Only way I can see how those who undercharge stay afloat is A) cheaper materials and B) saturation (or the Wal*Mart effect). Its like how a wet stain on a piece of fabric spreads. You get one person who undercuts horribly, and eventually everyone either has to fold to that, or close up, or find ways to make what they sell, be WORTH that price. Its fickle, its annoying, and just shows these people don't really understand that quality artisans need to be paid more at a higher level because god damn we spend TONS on the supplies to create items, especially in niche markets like face painting and chain mail!
They just want the absolute best for the lowest possible price and it just doesn't work that way! *headdesk*
